What is Audio Metadata?
Audio metadata (also called tags or ID3 tags for MP3 files) is embedded information that describes your audio file. This includes:
- Title: The name of the song or track
- Artist: The performer or band
- Album: The album or collection name
- Year: The release year
- Genre: The music genre (Rock, Jazz, Electronic, etc.)
- Track Number: Position in the album
- Album Artwork: Cover image for the album
- Composer: The songwriter or composer
- Comments: Additional notes or information
Step-by-Step Guide
Upload Your Audio File
Go to the home page and upload your audio file. You can either:
- Drag and drop the file onto the upload area
- Click the upload area to browse and select a file
Supported formats: MP3, FLAC, OGG, M4A, WAV, AIFF, WMA
Review Current Metadata
Once uploaded, you'll see the current metadata extracted from your file. The editor shows:
- All existing tag information
- Current album artwork (if any)
- Audio file details (duration, bitrate, sample rate)
Edit Tag Information
Modify any field you want to change:
- Click on any text field and type your changes
- Leave fields empty to remove existing values
- For track numbers, you can use formats like "1" or "1/12"
Add or Change Artwork
To update album artwork:
- Click on the artwork area to browse for an image
- Drag and drop an image onto the artwork area
- Paste an image from your clipboard (Ctrl+V or Cmd+V)
- Click "Remove" to delete existing artwork
Supported image formats: PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP
Save and Download
When you're done editing:
- Click the "Save Changes" button
- Wait for processing to complete
- Download your updated file from the download page
Tips for Best Results
Album Artwork
- Use square images (1:1 aspect ratio) for best compatibility
- Recommended size: 500x500 to 1000x1000 pixels
- JPEG format is most widely supported
- Keep file size reasonable (under 500KB) for faster loading
Consistent Tagging
- Use consistent artist names across albums
- Capitalize titles consistently (Title Case is common)
- Use the same genre terms for similar music
- Include the full year (e.g., "2024" not "24")
Track Numbers
- Use format "1/12" to include total track count
- Pad single digits if needed (some players sort better with "01")
- Keep track numbering consistent within an album

Files are automatically deleted within 1 hour of upload. Make sure to download your edited file before then.

Currently, you can edit one file at a time. For batch editing, consider our Android app or a desktop application.
Why isn't my artwork showing?
Make sure your image is in a supported format (PNG, JPG, GIF, or WebP) and is not corrupted. Try using a smaller image if you're having issues.
